Medical transport van involved in serious Ontario County crash

On Tuesday at approximately 8:09 am deputies responded with the Bristol Volunteer Fire Department and Finger Lakes Ambulance to an accident with injuries on County Rd. 32 at the intersection with East Hollow Rd.

Upon arrival it was found that an Auburn Medical Transport van — being operated by Dawn Stryker, 31, of Geneva — and occupied by two clients, was traveling northeast on County Rd. 32 when a vehicle operated by Jonathan Kordivak, 22, of Canandaigua turned left from East Hollow Rd., into the path of the van.

Kordiyak reported that he did not see the van due to shrubbery near the intersection. He added that upon realizing he was in the path of the van, he accelerated in an attempt to avoid the collision.

Stryker told deputies that she braked to avoid the collision, but neither effort prevented the crash.

Stryker complained of neck pain and was transported to F.F. Thompson Hospital, and Kordiyak was ticketed for failure to yield the right of way.
