Police, military honored with day at Red Jacket

The Red Jacket community will honor law enforcement, first responders and past and present military members Saturday before the Indians hit the field in a varsity football game against the Dundee Scotsmen.

The fourth annual Service Bowl ceremony will begin at 12:45 p.m. at the football field on the Manchester-Shortsville Central School District campus, 1506 state Route 21. Procession participants are asked to meet at the hospitality tent 15 minutes earlier.

Admission for the game will be waived with donations requested instead to support Back the Blue, a campaign of the Ontario County Police Benevolent Association to support local law enforcement.

Donna Schaertl, executive event coordinator for the association, said the Service Bowl was started by the varsity team’s former coach, Marc Vitticore, to honor those who serve and protect the community and country.
