The Mended Hearts Education and Support Group will meet on Thursday, Oct. 12, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in the Constellation Center for Health and Healing at UR Medicine’s Thompson Hospital, 350 Parrish St. in Canandaigua.
This month, Rene Pettenski from MVP Health Care will discuss Medicare A, B, C and D, including how to avoid penalties, the “donut hole” and the New York State prescription plan. Pettenski will also share information about the Medicare Advantage Plan, and how it differs from supplemental plans. The presentation will end with information about annual open enrollment dates and deadlines.
Sponsored by the Cardiac Rehabilitation Department at Thompson and the American College of Cardiology’s CardioSmart initiative, Mended Hearts offers education and support to people living with heart disease. Heart attack survivor Jim Fralick facilitates the support group, with meetings held the second Thursday of each month. No RSVP is required and there is no charge to attend.
