Bicyclist suffers minor injuries after collision with SUV in Hopewell

On Tuesday around 12:21 am the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office was called to investigate a vehicle-bicycle accident.

Deputies say Roger I. Montanye, 38, of Canandaigua was operating his bike westbound against traffic and crossed into the path of a Ford Explorer, which was being operated by Stephen R. Melton, 60, of Canandaigua.

The bicyclist was found at fault as he was operating on the wrong side of the roadway. As result of the accident, Montanye complained of leg pain and was transported to Thompson Hospital for treatment by Canandaigua Ambulance.

No citations were issued, according to deputies.

The Hopewell Fire Department also responded to the scene.
