There has been some high turnover at the Cayuga County District Attorney’s Office, but now the district attorney says it is fully staffed once again.
The staffing issues began in February 2016 when the Cayuga County Legislature eliminated three full-time positions, including welfare fraud prosecutor Carl Rosenkranz. Then, four months later, drug prosecutor Jeffrey Domachowski was fired.
In December, Budelmann said the office was back at full strength after hiring two new prosecutors — Anthony Benigno took over the county’s welfare fraud cases and Andrew Kelly was assigned to drug cases. However, by July 2017, the office had lost another two more assistant district attorneys: Brian Leeds and Nate Garland.
