Burdett to get new $2.83M fire station, village offices

The United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development has approved a loan for $2.83 million with an accompanying grant of $211,000 to the Village of Burdett to build a fire station and village offices.

Congressman Tom Reed made the announcement this week.

The Rural Development funds will assist the village to construct a 10,000 square foot building that will house both the village offices and the Burdett Volunteer Fire Company which serves the Village of Burdett, the Town of Hector and numerous surrounding communities in Schuyler County.

The structure that the new building will replace dates to 1940 and had significant structural and accessibility inadequacies.
