Nolan’s rebuild in Canandaigua could get NY boost

City officials have agreed to help gain funding for the reconstruction of a local landmark restaurant destroyed by fire on July 13.

Nick Violas and Kate Nolan, owners of Nolan’s on Canandaigua Lake, have plans to rebuild their restaurant and catering headquarters at 726 S. Main St. for for $1.6 million, with a projected opening date of May 2018.

On Oct. 5, Canandaigua City Council members agreed unanimously to make an application, on behalf of Nolan’s, for $416,000 in funding from the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program, administered by New York State Office of Community Renewal.

Harry Sicherman, speaking on behalf of Nolan’s, said the grant, if approved, would help finance a portion of furnishing, fixtures, equipment or working capital costs.
