Geneva Rec Complex opens skating rink for 40th season

This Friday, the Geneva Recreation Complex will open for public skating with some new hours and new renovations. Public skating will still take place 7 days a week after opening night on October 13th, but with an extension to the weekend afternoon hours. Weekdays will still include skating from 11:30 to 1:30 pm, Friday and Saturday nights run from 6:30-9:30 pm and both afternoon skates on Saturday and Sundays will now be 12:30 to 2:45 pm. The flooring has been placed in our warming room area over the summer and provides a new cleaner look to the facility.

On Columbus Day, the rink opened for its annual Free Skate Day and hosted over 200 families throughout the day. Skating lessons are being offered every Sunday in 3 separate sessions throughout the winter, with the first starting this Sunday, Oct. 15th at 11am. The price for a session of 6 lessons to only $40 per person and additional savings are offered for those holding season passes and registering for multiple sessions. Comparatively, in the suburbs of Rochester these lessons could cost well over $150. To register, stop into City Hall or the rink.

Season passes are available for purchase at City Hall or at the ice rink during open skating hours. The passes allow families to save on admission prices over the 5 month long skating season. All rates and hours are available for view at www.genevarec.com. A City/Town of Geneva family pass costs only $80. Recreation director, Janelle Drach noted, “If a family of 4 attended more than 5 skating sessions together, they would already have covered the cost of the family pass alone, and with more than 120 weekend skating sessions to offer, this is a great deal for families looking to stay active in the winter months”.

Season passes also provide free admission to the college hockey games as well, another perk and fun way to get out with the family on a weekend. “We are excited be opening our doors for another year of skating and hope to see many new and familiar faces during our events and public skating hours”, said Drach.
