Ontario County has a new district attorney for the first time in 28 years.
First Assistant District Attorney Jim Ritts, running on the Republican line, defeated Kristina “Kitty” Karle, 12,194 to 8,936, in unofficial results posted by the Ontario County Board of Elections Tuesday evening.
Ritts had defeated Karle in the GOP primary in September and following that primary, Karle announced that she would not actively campaign for the position. However, she remained on the Conservative, Reform and Independence lines.
Ritts will take over in January for the retiring R. Michael Tantillo.
