The local Rural and Migrant Ministry, Wayne Action for Racial Equality, Kids for College and the New York Immigration Coalition are joining forces with others across the country for what is being called a “Rally for a Clean Dream Act” on Monday.
The local rally will be held at 4 p.m. at the Wayne County office of Rep. John Katko at the Public Safety Building, 7376 Route 31.
“We will stand together in solidarity to show Congressman Katko that we, his rural constituents, are calling on him to support our immigrant community. We call on him to ACT and support a #CleanDreamAct NOW!” the groups said in a press release issued Friday.
“Join DACA students from Wayne County as we stand with them to support their future. They turned themselves and their families in for their chance at the American Dream and now President Trump and Congress are turning their backs.”
The groups say that they have tried to meet with Katko, whose district includes all of Wayne County, but that he has declined.
