Police: Robbery investigation underway in Newark

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, as well as the Newark Police Department are in the midst of two major investigations after a busy Friday night for both law enforcement agencies.

Newark Police say they were called to an armed robbery at Crosby’s Convenience Store, located on North Main Street.

The incident took place around 11:40 pm, which is a little more than one hour after a Sodus teen was stabbed multiple times.

The teen succumbed to his injuries at Strong Memorial Hospital later that night.

Police say the clerk told them that a white male, wearing a hoodie and face mask entered the convenience store around 11:40 pm, appearing to have a handgun. The suspect demanded money from the cash register, and then fled.

He was last seen running west on West Shore Boulevard.

Police don’t believe the robbery is related to the homicide that left the 17-year-old Sodus resident dead near Perkins Park.
