The Cayuga County Legislature’s Ways and Means Committee talked raises Tuesday night, for themselves and other county workers and elected officials.
It’s been 12 years since legislators received a raise. At a special Legislature meeting in November 2005, the body voted to increase legislators’ pay to $10,100 and the salary has been that ever since. There are some increases for those who take on committee chair positions, and the chair of the Legislature makes a $30,000 salary.
At first the committee had a draft local law, which was created after a Government Operations Committee meeting, before them with no pay increase filled in. Government Operations Chair Ryan Foley said there had been discussion about investigating what other legislators in different counties are paid.
