Seven Ontario County residents were arrested over the weekend as part of a law enforcement sweep of county bars and stores to see how compliant they were with laws regarding alcohol sales to minors.
The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office led the joint investigation Saturday evening, along with representatives of the Canandaigua and Geneva City Police Departments, the New York State Liquor Authority and Ontario County Stop DWI. In total, more than 60 area establishments were checked.
At seven different businesses, employees sold alcohol to people under the age of 21. Those who sold the alcohol were each charged with one count of unlawfully dealing with a child in the first degree, a misdemeanor, and released on appearance tickets.
