Geitner’s 50 points lift Bloomfield over Honeoye in 2 OT thriller (W-FL round-up 12/12)

It took 2 overtimes on Tuesday night but the Bloomfield Bombers survived a trip to Honeoye to escape with a 101-99 win in the most exciting game of the year in the Wayne-Finger Lakes.

Bloomfield senior Patrick Geitner exploded for nearly half of his team’s output ending with an incredible 50 points. Even more impressive, just 6 of the 50 points came on three-pointers. Teammate Alexander Roach scored 25 while the rest of the Bombers roster combined for the final 26.

Bloomfield was trailing in the game 19-3 early but came storming back with 29 second quarter points to take the lead before Honeoye’s Jon Marble would tie the game with a three-pointer at the halftime buzzer.

Bulldogs junior Tyler Rudolph would tie the game with a lay-up with 8 seconds left in regulation and then blocked Geitner’s last second attempt to send the game to overtime, tied at 81 apiece.

In the first overtime period, Max Yale tied the game with a three-pointer in the waning seconds to send the game to a second overtime with the two teams tied at 87.

When Yale’s final three point attempt rattled out at the end of the second overtime, the celebration was on for Bloomfield who improved to 2-0 in the West while Honeoye would fall to 2-2 in league play.

FL1 Sports will be in Bloomfield on Thursday night as the Bombers host Marcus Whitman LIVE at 7:30 pm on FL1 Radio with a full video replay of the game streaming live at 11:00 pm. Brendan Harrington and Tane Robinson will have the call. Both teams are tied for first in the FL West at 2-0.
