Auburn residents had the opportunity to give their input on designs for the new school playground during a public meeting at Casey Park Elementary School on Wednesday night.
City staff is working with Play by Design to construct an inclusive, community-built playground that can be used by all children, regardless of any disabilities or physical handicaps. The company has designed playgrounds at Montgomery Park in Dryden and Our Space Park in Binghamton.
During the meeting, attendees were able to offer their ideas to incorporate into the playground, ask questions and see some designs Casey Park students have already come up with. Students from the school were asked to help with the design by drawing their dream playgrounds. Some common elements the students asked for were a zip line, climbing wall, ball pit, tree house and slides.
