Cayuga County legislators postpone move on pay raises

Cayuga County legislators tabled holding a public hearing on a draft local law raising their salaries Thursday night.

Records show legislators haven't received a pay increase since 2005. They currently make a base salary of $10,100, and are slated to work 30 hours per week.

After a Ways and Means Committee meeting Tuesday night, legislators suggested a local law that would give them a $1,000 raise, with another $1,000 raise the following year. Legislator Ben Vitale had thrown out those numbers, he said Thursday night, so that there would be something for the public to discuss at a hearing.
