Geneva will auction off two city-owned residential properties

Interested in buying a house in the city?

The city is planning to auction off two vacant residential properties it has acquired through a tax foreclosure process.

The properties are:

• 182 South West St. — The house will be shown to prospective bidders from 9 to 10 a.m. Jan. 20. The auction of that property will be 10 a.m. Feb. 3. The city has established a minimum bid of $50,000.

• 24 Oak St. — The house will be shown to prospective bidders from 10 to 11 a.m. Jan. 20. The property auction will be 11 a.m. Feb. 3. The city has established a minimum bid of $40,000.

In both cases, there will be a deed restriction that states the property must be owner-occupied for at least five years. A 10 percent down payment is due at the time of sale, with the balance due within 60 days.
