Sheriff: Campbell sex offender was advertising to teach kids

Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard reports that on Monday, December 18th members of the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Unit arrested a Campbell man for failing to register properly as a sex offender.

Vernon I. Vanzile III, 36, of Campbell was arrested for Failing to Register or Verify as a Sex Offender and Failure to Notify DCJS of Change of Internet or internet identifiers, both class E Felonies in the New York State Corrections Law.

The Sheriff’s Office received information that Vanzile, a registered level 3 sex offender, was advertising to teach martial arts to children in his home.

The investigation of this information revealed that Vanzile had several internet profiles on social media and other internet sites.

As a level 3 registered sex offender, Vanzile is required to notify the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services and the Steuben County Sheriffs Office of this information.

It is alleged that he failed to do so. He was arraigned in Bath Town Court and remanded to the Steuben County Jail, without bail, to reappear on January 3rd, 2018 at 3:15 pm.
