Ex-wife of Apple Farm owner already indicted on arson charge

Karen Bahai, who was arrested Monday in connection with the November 2016 fire that destroyed the retail store at The Apple Farm in Victor, has already been indicted by a grand jury on a charge of arson in the third degree, the Ontario County District Attorney’s Office announced Thursday.

The grand jury indicted Bahai, the 57-year-old ex-wife of the business’s owner, on Dec. 7 based off evidence presented by the DA’s Office, District Attorney Michael Tantillo said in a statement to the Victor Town Court, Assistant District Attorney Leslie Cohen Hickey and defense attorney William Beck. Tantillo concluded his statement with “THE PEOPLE ARE READY FOR TRIAL ON THIS MATTER.”

Separately, there will be no hearing Friday for Bahai, who is accused of intentionally setting the Nov. 4, 2016, fire at The Apple Farm off state Route 444 in Victor.
