Developers for the Pinnacle North project scored another victory Thursday when the Ontario County Board of Supervisors — with three members absent – voted unanimously to approve their request to amend their payment-in-lieu-of-taxes agreement.
The final vote by the Ontario County Industrial Development Agency, is slated for Friday. The IDA meets at 2 p.m. at the Municipal Building, 20 Ontario St., on Room 200 on the second floor.
Canandaigua City Mayor Ellen Polimeni spoke on behalf of the project being jointly developed by Morgan Management and LeChase Construction Services, saying the land had been a dump for a long time.
She said in the 1980s, the city first tried to promote development on the north shore of Canandaigua Lake by fixing the City Pier, but that did not bring the hoped-for development.
In the 1990s, she said, the city developed Kershaw Park, which brought some businesses, but it soon realized community support would be needed for a project on what had become an “environmental nightmare.”
