14-year-old accused of string of Ithaca vandalisms; Police believe others involved

Ithaca Police have made an arrest in an investigation into several vandalisms of vehicles and buildings, but believe others are involved.

Over the last several days, police have received numerous reports of damage that appears to have been caused by a BB-gun. The incidents have occurred at all hours of the day, but more so during the late evening and overnight hours, police report. At least nine separate incidents have been reported so far.

Ithaca Police responded to a similar incident at around 3:33 p.m. Tuesday in the 300 block of N. Cayuga St. Officers found damage to a window and tracked down a suspect who was later found to be in possession of a BB-gun, according to police. The suspect is a 14-year-old resident of Ithaca. The suspect was detained in police custody and the case is being transferred to Tompkins County Family Court for further action.
