Looking out over a crowd of people gathered for his ceremonial swearing in Saturday, Ontario County District Attorney-elect Jim Ritts said no one can turn a blind eye to the problems facing the community.
Increased violence, mental health issues and an opioid addiction crisis are just a few of the concerns facing law enforcement and community, he said.
“We have to deal with that as a community,” Ritts said. “There is no one person who can fix this. This is something we all have to do.”
More than 100 friends, family and members of the law enforcement and legal communities turned out for Ritts’ swearing-in ceremony at the Ontario County Courthouse.
State Supreme Court justice Craig Doran administered the oath of office as Ritts’ wife, Bonnie, and son, Kyle, looked on.
