The Yates County Courtroom was filled to standing room only for the Dec. 29 swearing in ceremony which was conducted by Yates County Judge Jason Cook. During the ceremony, Cook administered the oath of office to 37 county and town officials, including new District Attorney Todd Casella.
“The right to elect public officials is the bedrock of our political system. Each elected official no matter which office he or she serves in and no matter how many terms they may serve is a guardian of the public trust and a defender of the office to which they were elected,” said Cook, recognizing the commitment each of the elected officials has made.
“They have answered the call to serve and are willing to give the most precious resource any of us ever have – our time.”
Cook presented each with a copy of the U.S. Constitution and Declaration of Independence after they signed the oath book under the watchful eye of County Clerk Lois Hall.
