Dundee planning a makeover? $1.3M project focuses on downtown

Residents and business owners in the village of Dundee will have opportunities to contribute to plans for a new look in the downtown streetscape of the village.

The village board unanimously approved an agreement with Barton & Louguidice engineering firm for developing a Gateway Streetscape Improvement Project which will introduce elements along Main and Water Street to calm traffic, improve pedestrian accommodations, reduce untreated stormwater runoff, relieve stress on the village’s storm sewer system, reduce inflow into the village’s sanitary sewer system and address damage and safety hazards caused by standing water.

The project will also provide the village with an inviting gateway and welcoming environment for residents and visitors, according to the plan reviewed by B&L representatives at the Jan. 9 Village Board meeting.

A $1.3 million state grant will be the main source of funding for the project.
