Reed, Gottheimer comment after State of the Union address

Tuesday evening, the Problem Solvers Caucus Co-Chairs Reps. Tom Reed (NY-23) and Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) delivered a bipartisan message in response to President Donald Trump’s State of the Union speech. Echoing a call for unity, the caucus co-chairs shared their approach to finding common ground, across party lines, with the American people, and their efforts to increase unity and agreement in a culture of trust.

In the video, Reed said when he heard Trump talk about working across the aisle, he felt like standing up and saying, “There’s a group of us already here. working together, having real conversations with each other, respecting each other’s views.”

He said the group has spent time discussing major issues including health care, immigration, and infrastructure.

“At the end of the day when you go into your extreme camps, nobody wins,” added Reed, who said he and Gottheimer have become good friends through the process.
