Activities will still take place despite ‘substantial’ amount of money stolen from Clyde-Savannah Elementary group

Parents, teachers, and those within the Clyde-Savannah Central School District are tense after a ‘significant’ sum of money went missing from a parent-teacher fund.

A meeting on Tuesday for the Parent Teacher Group at Clyde-Savannah Elementary School on Tuesday was supposed to focus on the upcoming Daddy-Daughter Dance. However, parents were stunned to learn of a theft — that allegedly took place internally — and is now being investigated by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Barry Virts would not identify who the suspect involved might be, but according to school officials — that individual is a district employee, and member of the parent-teacher volunteer group.

Activities that were going to be funded by this group will still take place.

Additional details have not been released.
