Rochester woman charged with welfare fraud in Wayne County

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Welfare Fraud Unit reports the arrest of a Rochester woman on welfare fraud charges following an investigation.

Sarah J. Reiber, 31, of Rocheter was arrested after an investigation was initiated by the Wayne County Department of Social Services.

Reiber failed to report all income to the Department of Social Services when she applied for SNAP (Food Stamp) benefits.

It is alleged that Reiber was employed and receiving income while receiving SNAP benefits.

She was in receipt of benefits totaling $880 that she would not have been entitled to receive. Deputies charged Reiber with fifth-degree welfare fraud and petit larceny.

The charges will be answered at a later date.
