Oswego man admits leaving scene of accident in Sterling in December 2016

An Oswego man admitted his guilt in an accident in December 2016 in the town of Sterling, according to a press release from the Cayuga County District Attorney's Office.

Timothy Oleyourryk, 48, of State Route 104A, pleaded guilty in Cayuga County Court on Wednesday to leaving the scene of personal injury accident without reporting to police, a Class A misdemeanor.

As a result of the plea, Oleyourryk will be sentenced May 8 to no worse than three years probation, a fine and a surcharge.

On Dec. 10, 2016, at approximately 10 p.m., Oleyourryk was driving a 2011 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD extended cab pick-up truck equipped with a V-plow in a northeasterly direction on Old State Road in Sterling during a severe lake-effect snow storm when he struck an intoxicated 19-year-old man who was walking home in the road from a friend’s house.
