Temperatures will warm into 40s, 50s for FLX; flooding risk remains ‘very’ minimal

Above average temperatures are on their way to the Finger Lakes.

As we warm up during the second half of this week — some concerns have been raised about flooding. However, forecasters say that there won’t be enough rain, combined with the snowmelt that will be taking place — to worry about any major flooding.

Some ponding in yards is possible as temperatures move up through the 40s on Wednesday and Thursday — but it won’t pose any long-term problem like traditional flooding can.

The weekend will see temperatures drop slightly, but next week they will once again rise into the 40s. FLX Weather Meteorologist Drew Montreuil said in a recent update that while bursts of cold, wintry weather are possible — the long-term forecast over the next several weeks looks ‘above normal’.

Forecasters say that between a quarter- and half-inch of rainfall can be expected Thursday night into Friday morning with the passing of the region’s next weather maker.
