Lakeshore Drive in Canandaigua was re-opened late Monday morning after an incident, which involved a ‘distraught person’, according to reports.
Police told the Canandaigua Messenger that, “The individual was located, and negotiators from the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office and the Canandaigua Police Department were able to speak with the individual, and ultimately were able take the individual safely into custody under mental health law. The individual was taken to a medical facility, for the purpose of providing them with the appropriate mental health services.”
The Canandaigua Police Department, Ontario County Sheriff’s Office and New York State Police all responded to the scene, which remained closed for a period of time from the b ridge on Lakeshore Drive through the Route 364 intersection.
Police could be seen speaking with an individual on a nearby bridge.
