Sheriff Tim Luce says an extensive investigation into stolen narcotics from the Seneca County Correctional Facility Medical Center has resulted in the arrest of a Waterloo woman.
Laurie A. Guererri, 58, of Waterloo was employed as a Registered Nurse and worked at the jail. She was charged with official misconduct, petit larceny, promoting prison contraband, and two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
The charges stem from a major investigation into the disappearance of 103 pills from a sealed container at the facility. The missing pills were discovered by Corrections Personnel.
Sheriff Luce says the pills were slated for destruction.
Corrections Officers and Corrections Medical Personnel assisted investigators with the case, according to Luce, who said that upwards of 20 interviews were conducted.
Guererri was released on appearance tickets and will appear on April 13th at 10 a.m. in Romulus Town Court.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the investigation.
Sheriff Luce said that although these investigations are difficult — all members of the Sheriff’s Office worked together to bring this investigation to a speedy conclusion.
