On Friday at approximately 6:34 p.m. deputies investigated a one-car accident that took place on Route 96 in Waterloo.
Deputies say Chia-Hua Pia, 27, of Amherst was traveling west on Route 96 near Blue Sky Road when he left the highway, crossing over the road, into the south ditch. His vehicle rolled over, according to deputies.
Pia was checked at the scene by North Seneca Ambulance and refused medical assistance. However, he was charged with driving while intoxicated and taken into custody.
Pai was issued tickets for driving while intoxicated, failing to keep right, and aggravated breath alcohol content.
He was arraigned in Waterloo Town Court and released.
New York State Police, North Seneca Ambulance, Waterloo Fire Department and Border City Fire Department all assisted at the scene.
