Ovid woman charged with felony DWI after rollover crash on Rt. 89

Seneca County Sheriff Tim Luce says around 4:39 p.m. on Wednesday — investigators charged a 49-year-old Ovid resident with DWI following a one-car rollover accident.

Lori J. Mitchell, 49, of Ovid was traveling north on Route 89 near Bergen Beach Road when she left the highway, then crossed over the road into the south side ditch — rolling onto its side.

Mitchell was checked at the scene by South Seneca Ambulance, and after refusing medical assistance — was taken into custody for driving while intoxicated.

She was issued traffic tickets for failure to keep right, operating a motor vehicle while using a portable electronic device, refusing to take a breath test, and driving while intoxicated with a prior conviction.

That made the most-recent DWI charge a felony.

Deputies say Mitchell was arraigned in Covert Town Court and released. The charges will be answered at a later date.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by New York State Police, South Seneca Ambulance, and Interlaken Fire Department.
