Republicans don’t back candidate for judge, primary expected

The Seneca County Republican Committee did not endorse a candidate in the race for Seneca County Judge.

Donna Cathy, former Seneca County District Attorney said on Thursday she ‘commended’ the choice. “I commend their decision to leave the choice for filling this open seat up to the voters,” she explained. “Looking ahead, I’m prepared and excited to run a spirited campaign to inform the voters about my extensive experience as an attorney, my decades-long commitment to Seneca County, and my qualifications to serve as your next Seneca County Judge.”



David Ettman, who serves as First Assistant County Attorney in Seneca County now is vying for support to be the Republican representative in November’s general election for the judge seat.

In recent-memory Judge Dennis Bender has become a mainstay in Seneca County. Once it became clear that he would be ending his run as judge in 2018 – other interested parties began popping up.
