Massive fire at Aurora Ridge Dairy under investigation

Firefighters were called to the scene of a barn fire in the Poplar Ridge Fire District around 9:20 p.m.

First responders say there were approximately 300 calves inside the barn, and that there was an active structure fire confirmed when crews arrived.

Poplar Ridge, Long hill, Union Springs, and Aurora fire departments were called to the scene. Moravia RIT was also called to the fire on Angling Road at Aurora Ridge Dairy Farm.

First responders say they were working to get the animals out of the barn as of 9:30 p.m.

Aurlius, Fleming 1, and Genoa fire departments were standing by for those battling the blaze on Angling Road.



As of 10:26 p.m. the fire was still active, but the barn had mostly collapsed from the flames. A fire investigation team was requested to the scene.

First responders also report that one person was transported to Auburn Community Hospital by Southern Cayuga Ambulance,
