Cortland gas station erupts into flames after car hits pump; driver faces charges

Authorities in Cortland say a man faces charges after a large fire at a gas station, which started when a car struck one of the pumps.

The fire happened was just before noon Sunday; fire crews were called to the Sunoco on Port Watson street.

The gas station's fire suppression system under the awning was activated and helped to get this under control quickly.

No one was hurt in the blaze. Video of the fire captured by an onlooker has since gone viral on Facebook; as of this writing, it has been viewed more than 90,000 times.
