Forcible touching charge filed after Auburn convenience store incident

A Cayuga County man has been charged with forcible touching after security cameras caught him grabbing a female employee at a local gas station, according to the Auburn Police Department.

Auburn Police told the Auburn Citizen that a warrant was issued for 41-year-old Michael Scharick on Monday.



Police say they received a complaint from an employee at the Speedway gas station on North Street in the city. The 29-year-old victim said she was working at the store when a male customer stepped behind the counter and grabbed her buttocks.

The incident was caught on camera, which resulted in charges being filed. Scharick was charged with forcible touching, which is a Class A misdemeanor.

The charges will be answered at a later date.
