Victor pulls out thrilling 10-9 double-OT victory in Class B final

This was never going to be easy for Victor, no matter how many championships it has won, no matter how many future Division I lacrosse players it has on its roster.

Sure enough, in a scintillating Section V Class B championship game at St. John Fisher College Wednesday night, as good a high school game as you’ll ever see, Webster Thomas gave the Blue Devils perhaps the toughest game they’ve had in Section V in several years.

In the end, though, they are champions for a reason, and after some supremely close calls and tense moments, the Blue Devils prevailed in the second overtime when Alexander Mabbett fired a shot past Thomas goalie Ethan Ruller for a 10-9 victory that left the overflow crowd breathless.
