Groton man charged with strangling, assaulting victim during dispute

A Groton man faces multiple charges and is being held on $2,000 cash bail after a domestic incident, which resulted in one person being injured.

On Tuesday around 2:57 am police charged 34-year-old David M. Rath, of Groton with strangulation and assault after injuring an unidentified person during that domestic incident.



Police say he struck a person’s head against a piece of furniture, resulting in the injury. The strangulation charge is a felony.

Rath was arraigned in Groton Town Court and remanded to the Tompkins County Jail.
