Sheriff: Clyde woman gave false statement about rape in Wayne Co.

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a Clyde woman after she allegedly made a false written statement, and falsely reported a rape.

Jessica R. Gallagher, age 27, of Clyde was arrested after reporting that she was picked up by an unknown male that she met on a dating app, blindfolded by that person, forced to an unknown Wayne County residence, and forcibly raped.



Detectives say that Gallagher gave a false punishable written statement, and after further investigation into the incident – admitted to giving the false statements.

Gallagher admitted to making the false statement after the male refused to give her a ride home.

She was arraigned in Galen Town Court and remanded to the Wayne County Jail. She is being held on $1,000 cash bail or $1,500 secured bond.

The charges will be answered at a later date.
