Syracuse football couldn’t quite do enough to finish off No. 3 Clemson in Death Valley on Saturday, losing 27-23 in heartbreaking fashion.
Still, there was hope that the near-upset might be enough to propel the Orange into a Top 25 poll for the first time in 17 years.
That didn’t come to fruition on Sunday.
SU moved up in the Associated Press Top 25 receiving votes column from 11th (25 votes) to third (74). Syracuse remained third in the receiving votes column of the USA Today Coaches Poll, dropping from 83 votes to 48.
