The second phase of a $10 million project at Naples Central School is moving forward and on schedule. Groundbreaking for footers and foundations for a new bus garage is expected this fall. In preparation for the new garage, site work is taking place on nearly four acres of former vineyard that was purchased for the project behind the northwest corner of the elementary school.
The new 10,500-square-foot garage with fueling island is scheduled to be finished in fall 2019, according to Superintendent Matt Frahm. Frahm added that once the old garage is demolished, the plan calls for that area to be restored to grass and the current drive area used for parking.
“We anticipate that demolition will occur within 12 months of completion of the new bus garage, assuming there are no unanticipated changes in project planning,” Frahm said in an email.
Contractors have submitted bids that have been reviewed for the project. The Board of Education is expected to award contracts at its meeting Oct. 3.
