No charges filed after bloody fight in Auburn

Auburn police said no charges were filed following a late-night fight that led to a foot pursuit last week.

Just before 10:30 p.m. on Nov. 29, police were called to the area of Owasco Street near Walnut Street, where a bloodied victim was reported to have walked into the Owasco Mini Mart.

When police arrived, they were able to corral three of the four individuals involved in the fight, APD Detective Christopher Coopper said Wednesday. The fourth person, Christopher Barnwell, 18, was tracked down around 10:45 p.m. after police followed footprints and drops of blood in the snow. He was bleeding from cutting himself on broken glass.

Barnwell was found at a home near Wegmans and was the only individual arrested, Coopper said. Barnwell's arrest wasn't related to the fight, however, and he was picked up on a state police bench warrant for seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, both misdemeanors.

The three other individuals went to the Auburn Community Hospital and were treated for bumps and cuts, Coopper said.
