LATEST: Teen charged in Ithaca stabbing is connected to out-of-state homicide

Multiple warrants uncovered as investigation continues

Police have released new information on the juveniles arrested in connection with a stabbing that happened last Friday in Ithaca.

The juveniles, 13, 15 and 16-years-old, are accused with stabbing a man Friday night on N. Cayuga St.

Police said in an update that one of the suspects has two warrants from another state. One of those warrants is in connection with a homicide – the other involving a probation violation in connection with a rape.

Police didn’t identify which of the three had the outstanding, out-of-state warrants – and no additional information is expected to be released due to ages.

As for the stabbing in Ithaca, police now say the victim and suspects had “some familiarity with each other,” though they have not released a motive.

All three suspects were arraigned in Ithaca City Court on charges of Gang Assault in the First Degree, a Class B Felony, and Assault in the First Degree, a Class B Felony.


Three minors charged with felony gang assault after stabbing

Police say three people have been charged with felony gang assault after an investigation into a stabbing that happened over the weekend around the 100 block of North Cayuga Street in Ithaca.

Investigators have arrested three subjects in connection with the stabbing. All three were minors โ€” under the age of 17-years-old.

Police say the names will not be released, but that all were charged with felony gang assault, and felony first-degree assault.

Two of the three subjects were remanded to a Juvenile Detention Facility. The other was remanded to a specialized secure detention facility.

All three are scheduled to appear in court on Monday for further action.

The victim is listed in critical but stable condition.


Victim in serious condition after Friday night stabbing

Police in Ithaca are investigating a stabbing, which left one person seriously injured on Friday.

The incident happened around 6:30 p.m. when officers from the Ithaca Police Department responded to the 100 block of North Cayuga Street for a reported stabbing.

Upon arrival officers found a victim, who was bleeding profusely from the face and back.

Officers say they quickly determined that the victim needed emergency medical treatment. Bangs Ambulance was called to the scene, responded, and brought the victim to an established landing zone.

The victim was then airlifted to a regional trauma center. Police say the victim was last known to be in serious condition at that hospital.

Police secured the area and are continuing to process the scene for additional evidence. Investigators are working through interviews, and speaking with witnesses but additional information was not available.
