‘Humidity’ determines the Frieda O’Hanlon Canandaigua City School District Spelling Bee champion

It took 26 rounds for the victor to emerge in the 45th annual Frieda O’Hanlon Canandaigua City School District Spelling Bee.

On Tuesda, eighth-grader Olivia Pagliano earned the victory by spelling ‘humidity’ correctly. Sixth-grader Tyler Friel finished second and eighth grader Adrianna Veatch finished 3rd. As a result of their perofmaces the top two will move on to represent Canandaigua at the regional spelling bee Mar. 23 at Hobart and William Smith Colleges.

The spelling bee is named in honor of longtime Canandaigua City School District Board of Education member, Frieda O’Hanlon, who champions academic excellence. This competition brings out academic excellence in all contestants.
