The former treasurer of the Citizens Hose Fire Company pleaded guilty Tuesday to felony grand larceny after deputies say she stole more than $20,000 from the company.
Wendy Wharton, 54, of Manchester was accused of stealing roughly $24,000 by pocketing cash, using the fire company’s credit cards and stealing checks.
She allegedly used the money to gamble at casinos in the Finger Lakes, Central New York, and Las Vegas.
After an audit, Wharton was ordered to pay $24,440. She must complete the full repayment on a court-imposed schedule.
If it is not repaid, she faces one to three years in prison.
