Man charged with accessing child pornography after previous conviction

Ithaca police have arrested a man previously convicted of child pornography charges for violating the terms of his sex offender registry status. According to police, Chadd Carr, 40, used the internet to access child pornography at least five times since being released from custody.

Carr was sentenced to six months in prison in April 2018 after pleading guilty to possessing a sexual performance by a child. When police arrested him in Sept. 2017, they reported finding 47 images of child pornography on his phone and 32 images on a DVD.

Carr is on the sex offender registry as a level three sex offender. He is required to report internet usage, accounts and access as a part of his registry status, according to court documents.
