Blizzard of ’93: 26 years since the ‘Storm of the Century’

Where were you when the Blizzard of 1993 hit?

Around this time 26 years ago, Central New York saw one of its most memorable blizzards. Viewers shared their memories of digging out and trying to travel in treacherous conditions.

"I was with a bus full of Syracuse Basketball fans who were in NYC for the Big East Tourney," Janet Welch Burch told CNYCentral in a tweet. "Tried to come home but Thruway was closed at Albany. Got to a sold out hotel that let us sleep in chairs around the pool! #whatablast"

Others had a blast playing in the snow, which piled high across the region.

"(I remember) jumping off the front porch into the snow, and eventually off the roof and into the snowbanks which reached the awnings!" Roy W. said.

When it was all done, some place saw nearly 43 inches of snow.
