The Phelps-Clifton Springs Central School District took in a recent donation from Reliant Community Credit Union that will encourage students to lead an active lifestyle.
The Sodus financial institution based donated 75 pairs of sneakers during a visit to Midlakes Intermediate and Primary schools.
The donation was made through Reliant’s Feet Forward program, designed to give back to the areas it serves while supporting various wellness efforts at elementary schools.
“At Reliant, we strive not only for financial wellness for our members and our communities, but also for overall wellness,” said Cynthia Hamann, vice president of brand awareness. “We are proud to be able to make this contribution, and we are thrilled that, through programs like Feet Forward, we will be able to help hundreds of children in our communities.”
Reliant partnered with Fleet Feet Sports of Rochester to provide brightly colored pairs of Saucony sneakers.
“Those of us who work in a school know that students come in with needs that go far beyond the classroom,” Superintendent Matthew Sickles said. “We do our very best to use our resources to meet as many of their needs as possible. Community partners such as Reliant Community Credit Union help us go above and beyond to meet the needs of students. We appreciate the impact this investment will have as we promote fitness and physical activity.”
Sickles thanked Karen Cameron and Chris Moyer, Peg Carlson, Michelle Tyman, and Laura VanLaeken for working on the donation for the school district. Staff started handing out pairs of sneakers soon after receiving the donation.
