Judge reserves decision on show cause order vs. Seneca County BOE

State Supreme Court Judge Daniel Doyle reserved decision Tuesday after hearing oral arguments on the show cause order filed by Casey McDonald against the Seneca County Board of Elections.

McDonald, of Romulus, filed an order to show cause why the elections board should not reverse three recent rulings it has made, including denying his objections to the state Republican Committee nominating petition of Lee Davidson of Lodi.

He also is seeking to reverse election board rulings that his nominating petitions for state Republican Committee were invalid and that his objections to county Conservative Party committee petitions were invalid because he is not a member of that political party.

Doyle told McDonald, who is representing himself, that his legal paperwork “has some issues” related to service of his legal papers on the parties and not naming all essential parties to the case. Those issues were raised by County Attorney David Ettman in his reply to McDonald’s proposed show cause order.
